Free Creative Writing Classes
for Adults,

with Writer and Editor Marilyn Davin

NOTE:  these sessions are filled.  Additional classes may be scheduled at a later date.
drawing of a pencil

Thursday evenings October 2, 9, 23, and 30,
from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in a fun and relaxed setting.

Early sign-up is recommended. Please call the Fortuna Library at 725-3460 to register.

Local writer and editor Marilyn Davin lives in Ferndale.  She is a UC Berkeley Art and Literature grad.  She has worked as a news reporter, taught English as a second language, and produced corporate newsletters and video productions.

The workshops will be tailored to participants' needs and aspirations.  Depending on your experience and whether you want to write poetry, short stories, historical fiction, novels, plays, or other kinds of work, Davin will adjust the workshops, including reading materials and writing assignments.

Topics for discussion will cover the essentials of the writing experience, such as the power of observation, getting started, finding an authentic voice, and the nuts and bolts of writing itself. Participants will have an opportunity to share their writing with others, provide their peers with feedback, and to discuss their own favorite writers and styles.

These creative writing classes are sponsored by the Mel and Grace McLean Foundation.
