Here are some of the access features at Eureka's Main Library:

.  Easy ramp access

.   Accessible parking spaces near the door and the ramp

.   Bus stop --  Note:  As of Sept. 10, 2008, there is construction on R Street.  The closest city bus stops now are at the Adorni Center (2nd and Waterfront) and at 3rd & T.  The Adorni Center stop means a walk of perhaps three blocks on quiet streets to reach the library.  About one block of it is uphill (from the Adorni center to the Carson mansion.)  The Third & T stop is about five blocks from the library with no hill, but there may be obstacles due to the construction at R street, the busy street that goes to the bridge to Manila.  We hope this is only a brief disruption of bus service to the library.  In the meantime our stop right in front of the library is not served by buses.

.  Motorized cart (scooter) with basket - located near the circulation desk where you enter the library; ask at desk for key.

.  Elevator access to second floor

.  Wheelchair accessible restrooms

.  Handrails in restrooms

.  Handrails on all stairways as stair guides

.  All public computers can be adjusted for use by people who have visual impairments or prefer larger type. Please ask staff for assistance if needed.

.  Closed captioned videos to check out

.  Low vision readers on each floor to magnify books and other written material

.  Large print books and audio books to check out

.
Ask us about the California State Library's Braille and Talking Book Library service.  This service loans  Braille, cassette and talking books, magazines and playback equipment to those unable to read conventional print.  They also have digital audio books.  The material is sent to your home.  The Reference Librarian can help you connect to this resource.
